You are free to provide a link to any content on this site, but if you wish to reuse or republish any written or visual content you need to ask first; try me on LinkedIn.

Privacy policy

This website is https://www.garytaylor.uk and is owned, operated and maintained by Gary Taylor. The servers it runs on are owned, operated and maintained by Nativespace. This privacy policy covers this website only.

This site runs on a self-hosted version of WordPress, from Automattic. By default WordPress does not collect any personal data about visitors, and only collects the data shown on the User Profile screen from registered users. User registrations are closed.

Installed plugins and services may additionally collect data. What data they collect is shown the following sections.

If you wish to make a personal data request, the request form is at the end of this page.

Site operation

This section explains how this website works, and what happens when you view or comment on articles.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site the data shown in the comments form is collected, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. Please read Gravatar’s privacy policy. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

No user-generated content is permissible on this site. No-one can upload images to the site except me.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on this site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. It is not mandatory, and not accepting cookies will not affect your use of this site.

Please read the separate cookie policy for a list of which cookies are stored, by which plugin or service, and how long they persist for.

Payments, registrations, subscriptions and e-commerce

This website does not require registration to view. It does not directly make any sales; any sales would be done through a third party platform. Should any such product, ticket or event sales take place, this policy will be updated with the details of the third-party platform used.

There is no option to subscribe to posts or comments. Should this change, this policy will be updated to show how such data is stored and used.

Connections with other sites and services

This section explains how this website interacts with other sites and services, and what data may be passed on.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (including, but not limited to, videos, images and tweets). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Please read the separate cookie policy for a list of plugins or services, and the cookies they use.

Analytics

By default, WordPress does not collect any analytics data. No other service or plugin is being used to collect analytics data.

How is your data handled?

This section explains what happens to your data once it is collected.

Sharing your data

I do not share your data with anyone. By default WordPress does not share any personal data with anyone.

Retaining your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can allow the WordPress software to recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

What rights do you have over your data?

If you have left comments on this site you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data held about you, including any data you have provided. You can also request that I erase any personal data held about you.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments and feedback via the contact form are checked through an automated spam detection service, Akismet by Automattic. Please read Akismet’s privacy policy.

Make a personal data request

If you’ve ever left a comment on this site or used the contact form, you have the right to view and, if necessary, erase any data I hold.
